Muncie, IN 4/26/2014

Street Kids Softball came out strong in the opening round of the Directors Cup Series tourney in Muncie, beating Honey Badgers 22-15 then following that up with a 15-12 win over Cedar Creek. But in the winners bracket final, 22 Below manhandled the Kids, beating them 22-8. It was a similar story in the losers bracket final, where they lost to Cedar Creek 15-9, giving SKS a third place finish.

"Our defense was terrible and the offense was not much better," said a straight faced head coach JR Shapiro. "We just were not ourselves today, but we will get past it and move on."

Mike Bailey and Nick Bishop were named to the all tourney team for the second straight event. It was Bishop's third all-tourney selection of the year. He had one all of last season, when he was the tourney co-MVP at the Berto Memorial.

The Kids (11-7 this season) were without Joe Horvath, Terry Patesel and Jamie Simpson.
