SKS to Celebrate Season on December 1st
November 17th, 2012

South Bend, IN -

The Street Kids Softball team had their ups and downs in 2012, but wrapped up the season with some pretty nice accomplishments, including winning the Kiracofe for the second straight season, winning the ASA B state title for the second straight season and topping off a 12-tournament-win season with the GSL B World Series title. The team also finished 2nd in four tournaments, including the NSA "B" World Series for the second straight year.

On December 1st, the 2012 awards dinner will be held once again at Tilted Kilt in Mishawaka. It was held at the Kilt in 2011 as well, when Jason Jeffery took home top honors with the MVP award. The event is open to the public, but this year, it will be very low key, according to TJ Jorgensen of SKS.

"I just wanted to take it down a notch from years past," Jorgensen said. "We've held some nice events featuring some of the top players in our sport (Jeff Hall, Rusty Bumgardner) but even though I know its been appreciated by the team to have something big and give away a lot of awards, our team has taken a turn away from individualism and kept it geared toward the team. In the past, we've honored the best league player, best tourney player, rookie of the year, home run king, etc but I just kind of got the feeling from the team that we want to keep it low key. We'll have a big dinner at one of our top sponsors who has followed us all year, we are still going to give away the overall MVP award, the Gold Glove Award and a few others, but we are doing away with acceptance speeches and guest speakers. We had a great year in 2012, and these guys deserve to get together one last time for a great night with our families, friends and fellow ball players."

Dinner begins at 6pm and is open to the public, however, you must RSVP by emailing TJ Jorgensen at with the number of people, including yourself, that are attending. This is needed for seating purposes as Saturday is a busy night for Tilted Kilt. The Kilt is giving SKS as much room as they need for the dinner.

"We are proud of the SKS team for another big year and are excited to have them back for the awards dinner again," said Tilted Kilt owner Paul DiBennedetto.

Tilted Kilt is located at 1032 E. University Drive in Granger, Indiana, just east of the Super Target and next door to Granger Community Church (GCC). Dress is casual. I mean after all.. its Tilted Kilt!
